My Story
I have a slightly unusual history as an English post-graduate who began their career in the finance industry. After a few years specialising in mortgages I decided to forget about security and follow my lifelong ambition – to be a writer! That’s when I changed careers and moved into Public Relations, working with a small team representing a number of nationwide clients. It gave me some great experience and training in copywriting which is how I got the confidence to go freelance. I’ve already completed several major projects and I’m having a great time doing it!
My History
In 2003 I completed my BA in English and Medieval Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter and spent the summer teaching children in Romania. After that I went to Aberdeen University to study a MLitt in English Literary Studies. I continued teaching english as a foreign language throughout my postgraduate degree before moving to Gloucestershire and finding work with a major high street bank.
I spent a few years in financial services dealing with a variety of products and functions. I also worked as a Legal Executive for a year so I’m used to reading complicated documents and I have a very keen eye for detail. These experiences taught me the value of communicating in plain english.
I love working on a variety of projects, even if it means doing lots of research. It’s all part of the challenge!
Clients have said that they appreciate my thoughtful approach to copywriting. I take the time to listen and understand my clients’ needs. This is the best method of producing copy and I am a strong believer in collaboration to get the best results.
