Self improvement and rediscovering zeal
What an underused word ‘zeal’ is! The last time I heard it was in a Religous Education class and the word ‘religous’ was in front of it. I could have used ‘passion’, ‘energy’, ‘drive’ or many other words but for some reason ‘zeal’ just tripped off my fingers and it seems appropriate to describe my mood today.
I’ve blogged previously about the struggles of maintaining a creative rhythm and flow. To try and resolve that I’ve been reading a lot of blog posts from places like Zen Habits (www.zenhabits.net) and Sebastian Johnsson (www.sebastianjohnsson.com) and a few others. It’s amazing how much of Getting Things Done is just common sense and yet it’s so easy to forget or overlook things that, having read about them, I thought should have been obvious to me!
Now, instead of struggling through my work and bemoaning the lack of inspiration or creative drive I have spent the afternoon powering through some creative projects that had previously been stifling. Rather than repeating the mantras of Leo Babauta et al I shall let you find your own path if you so wish. There are plenty of blogs to help with inspiration and GTD as well as the ones I’ve mentioned above.
(Incidentally, Sebastian Johnsson does not specifically blog about GTD but he has just started an interesting productivity experiment!)
It seems a shame to have reached what feels like a landmark realisation just a few days before I get married and jet off to sunny Portugal on honeymoon! I can only hope I remember what I just learnt after my week in the sun.
Speak soon!

Hey Rachel!
It’s amazing to see that your creativity is flowing. Hopefully you’ll be able to keep it up when you get back from your honeymoon.
Congratulations on getting married and enjoy yourself in Portugal!
