Using your talents

In my last blog post I happened to mention that I’d made a bad career move. The truth is, I’ve made loads and it’s only since I began freelancing that I feel I’ve found the right place to be.

  • I get to work on lots of different projects so I’m never bored, which used to happen all the time in my old jobs.
  • I get to use my creativity which almost never happened in a lot of my past positions!
  • I get to control my own workload – again – there was limited opportunity for this before. I am finally able to be truly proactive!
  • I don’t get stressed out because I’m confident in my abilities and I know where I’m going and why.

This kind of clear sightedness was never with me before because I genuinely couldn’t think of a good enough reason to be doing what I was doing.

A friend of mine has experienced similar frustrations and has been dreaming of making her own career path outside of her normal employment. Her passion is photography and I think she has a talent for it!

I can’t claim to be a well connected industry expert who can set her off on a path to fame and fortune. But I have been thinking my blog posts look a little dreary lately so you can expect to see a few examples of her work on forthcoming posts. Today I’d like to treat my readers to a view of West Looe in Cornwall and some beautiful flowers from the gardens of Lanhydrock, also in Cornwall.

Enjoy!

PS. Thanks to Kathryn Wright for the photos!

PPS. I’ll be writing another post soon about mid-afternoon motivation. Feel free to email your thoughts via the contact form or submit a comment.
