Seeking silence
Today I came across a post about the creative benefits of getting a bit of peace and quiet.
It’s something I’ve noticed myself, especially when it’s been difficult to find any time alone without distractions. As my childhood slowly got replaced with University, dating, jobs, marriage and housework (many of which happened simultaneously) I realised that my thinking time was diminishing. In many ways that was a good thing. I’ve become a healthier, better adjusted person because I’ve been doing more and socialising more while thinking (and worrying) a lot less. On the downside, it does mean I get more writer’s block and moments when I just think ‘please can life slow down a bit?’. It’s an awkward balance and at the moment busy-time is winning.
What I want to do is reach a coalition.
That can only mean one thing. It’s time to start diarising ‘me’ time.
